If you’re wondering whether running outside or on a treadmill is more beneficial, actually both have their merits and demerits.
Running on a treadmill and running outside offer different experiences and benefits.
Before sharing the merits and demerits. I briefly want to share my own experience
Let’s dive into it!
MY EXPERIENCE
For me personally, I prefer running outside.
I enjoy the birds chirping, the wind, and the moonlight.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not an extrovert, but I love nature, and running outside allows me to connect with it.
I sometimes use the treadmill, especially when the weather is bad, but most of the time
I’m out on the roadside running
RUNNING ON A TREADMILL
Running on a treadmill has some benefits:
BENEFIT 1: It Saves Time
If you’re super busy and can’t find time to run
The treadmill is the most appropriate solution for you to stay fit and healthy.
You can make calls while on the treadmill.
If you’re a fan of multitasking, then the treadmill might be the best choice for you.
BENEFIT 2: You Are In Control Of Everything
On a treadmill, you can control the pace, and you don’t have to worry about hitting poles or stepping in potholes.
It’s very helpful, especially for new runners.
BENEFIT 3: Less Pressure On Your Joints
The paved surface of the treadmill puts less pressure on the joints, which is beneficial.
Walking on a treadmill helps reduce accidents as much as possible.
DEMERITS OF RUNNING ON A TREADMILL
1. It can feel boring as it’s artificial, and you’re just going. There are fewer challenges. It’s absolutely not for people who like adventures and challenges.
2. The price of a treadmill could be a bit high for some people.
RUNNING OUTSIDE
It’s a little controversial.
Some people think it’s dangerous, while others think it’s adventurous.
Setting that aside
Let’s see some benefits of running outside:
BENEFIT 1: Burn More Calories
Running outside is more intense. The turns and twists in the road add more resistance while running and help burn more calories.
BENEFIT 2: Helps To Connect With Nature And Other Humans
Running outside allows you to enjoy nature, including sunrises, sunsets, wind, and moonlight.
It also helps you to connect with other people and reduces screen time.
It may help you build good relationships with other runners on the same track and provide an opportunity to build a running community.
DEMERITS OF RUNNING OUTSIDE
Running outside could be risky if you run by a busy roadside or if the road has too many potholes. It may also put more pressure on your joints.
FINAL THOUGHT
Although both running outside and on a treadmill have merits and demerits
When scrutinized carefully, the benefits of running are so high that considering the demerits is not that significant. So, decide which option suits you best and what are you waiting for?
Decide
and
start running.
