WHAT FORM OF EXERCISE IS GOOD FOR YOU: CARDIO OR WALKING

If you’re the one who is trying to think of incorporating cardio or walking but don’t know for sure which one to choose, I get it.

I have been there!

It’s all about just a little cost-benefit analysis.

I wanted to follow either cardio or walking.

I used to do both of these exercises every day for the last 4 years.

It served me well.

But when I picked one of these two, then I realized the true benefit.

I want to share some experience, tips, and talk about how I’ve been able to pick one particular exercise considering both the good and bad sides of these two types of exercise.

Let’s get into it!

MY EXPERIENCE

Being lazy sloth for 2 years, I had decided that I will do exercise and stay fit.

I made a New Year’s resolution that I will do exercise.

The first day after reaching the gym, I was confused.

The very next day, I said no to the gym.

I decided I will start with some light exercise.

Then I faced the dilemma of choosing between cardio or walking.

TUG OF WAR BETWEEN CARDIO AND WALKING

Before differentiating Cardio and Walking exercise

Let me introduce you to what these two exercises mean.

Don’t worry

I will not bore you with long definitions.

Cardio means increasing your heartbeat and blood pressure, for example: running, swimming, and cycling.

Walking involves moving at a moderate pace.

BE AWARE OF YOUR SCOPE OF OPPORTUNITIES

Choosing between these two exercises mostly depends on the scope of opportunities.

First, sit with your busy schedule, find/make a time slot for exercise. .

If you live in a busy city where cycling and running are not very wise choices,

But if there is a swimming pool behind the backyard

Then instead of choosing walking outside, choosing swimming as cardio is one of the best exercises for you.

But if you like some light exercise, then walking is the best exercise for you.

TIPS TO CHOOSE BETWEEN CARDIO OR WALKING

TIPS 1 Do What You Enjoy Most

Let’s hypothetically think that you choose cardio, but after doing it for some days

it makes you bored as hell.

Make a switch to walking exercise.

The goal is to enjoy yourself while you exercise.

Don’t just push yourself into something that you don’t like when you have to do it every day.

TIPS 2 Be Persistent

No matter what you pick, whether cardio or walking exercise, the key is to make it consistent.

Find a schedule and then stick to it.

For walking, it is more flexible as you can incorporate it into every work such as taking stairs.

For one type of cardio, it is also flexible too, such as cycling to work.

The point here is no matter what you do; you have to be persistent and accountable to yourself.

TIPS 3 Set The Limit And Sometimes Push The Boundary

Set a time limit for how long you want to do cardio/walking exercise.

The best way to follow this tip is to keep track of every day so that you can improve your exercise.

Once the time lit if fixed, don’t sell yourself short and set the limit lower.

Instead, sometimes push the boundary.

You’ll feel proud of yourself.

TIPS 4 Listen To Your Body

The tips 02 and tips 03 violate this point.

But listening to your body is more important than being persistent and pushing boundaries.

When you exercise for the first time, it takes time to adapt your body to the grueling you put your body through.

So, if you think of taking one or two days off, don’t hesitate, take the day off.

But be sure to get back to your exercise the following day immediately.

FINAL THOUGHT

Cardio and walking exercises are the best forms of exercise to keep a healthy body and mind.

Incorporating them into your daily routine will boost your mood and energy.

You will sleep better too.

Speaking from personal experience.

So, what are you waiting for?

Choose one and put in the work.
